‘A Sense of Place’ exhibition of new paintings by Hazel Cashmore

Our latest exhibition of paintings by Hazel Cashmore opens tonight and runs from 10-21 October, Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm.

Hazel says of her work:

“For the last 30 years my paintings have mirrored my relationship with the Caithness landscape… In my paintings I attempt to translate a landscape’s living force into an image via the medium of paint. Ideally, I want to realise the perfect interaction between paint and image – the image becomes the paint and vice versa.

For me, a painting is a theatrical setting of an inner event inspired by a sense of place.”

‘….when the sea is everywhere….’

this exhibition of paintings and glass by Meg Telfer continues until 30 May, open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.

Meg is one of four artists who took part in North Lands’ first mixed-media residency in Nov/Dec 201o. The glass pieces featured in the exhibition were all created during the residency and include painted glass, and painted and fused glass panels.

Meg describes her exhibited paintings ” all based on the amazing winter horizons and the harbour and shore at and around Lybster during the worst (winter) snow for years”

A recurring theme for Meg is Whaligoe Steps which she calls  ‘an ongoing source of inspiration’
